Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

Low pressure will track through the Northeast this weekend, bringing back more rain, snow, and the potential for ice. Winter weather alerts have been issued for heavy snow in northern Maine, with mixed snow and ice from northern New York through New Hampshire.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-15 100214-1763226140738.png">Rain and thunderstorms are moving in now before it turns to mostly snow Sunday into Monday, with some heavy lake effect snow possible. All precipitation types will be possible with this wave.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/New Baron Video 3-1763235463505.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Mountains in northern New York and New England can expect a lighter wintry mix Saturday evening before heavier snow works in Sunday into Monday. Areas SE of Lakes Ontario and Erie can expect pockets of 3-6 inches when all is said and done.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1763235532165.png">As of now, with the current temperature setup, some freezing rain will be possible as this moves through. Totals accretions of ice are forecast to reach 0.2" in some areas, not enough to cause power outages but certainly enough to make elevated surfaces quick slick.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-15 100236-1763226419654.png">With enough shear in the jet stream, a few severe storms could form late Saturday night from Ohio into Pennsylvania. Weekend System Brings Snow, Ice, & Storms to the Northeast

Intense rain and wind began impacting California on Thursday as a strong Pacific trough began moving inland. This is also bringing heavy rain to portions of the Pacific Northwest. Impacts in Southern California are expected to ramp up through Saturday, where significant flash flooding is possible.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-14 073407-1763131124530.png">Flood watches are in effect form the Sierra foothills down to the border with Mexico. This is where rainfall rates could be high enough to produce scattered flash flooding, especially where fires have burned in the past (burn scar areas). Some residents around these burn scar locations have been placed under evacuation warnings with sandbags made available to prevent flooding from entering homes.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-15 042739-1763206067403.png">A moderate risk (level 3 out of 4) for flash flooding has been issue for Saturday around parts of Southern California, including Los Angeles and the large burn scars around the Southland.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/PIC 2-1763241417946.jpg">What is a moderate risk? It may not sound like a big deal, but this outlook indicates significant flash flooding is possible. 21% of all U.S. flood deaths occur during days with a moderate risk. Take this flooding threat seriously by preparing your property and knowing where to go to seek higher ground if you're in a flood prone location.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/FORECAST-1763241525518.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Rainfall totals through Sunday morning are likely to top 5-7 inches in the mountains and possible around Los Angeles. Pacific Low Brings Flash Flood Risk To California

Meteorologist Jesse Kelley is excited to join the talented staff at Weather Nation. Jesse spent most of his childhood in Birmingham, Alabama. The state of Alabama is prone to seeing various types of weather from severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and winter weather. For college, Jesse attended the University of South Alabama where he received his degree in Broadcast Meteorology along with minors in Math and Geography. From Alabama, Jesse started his broadcast television working three years at KAVU-TV in Victoria. Recently, he finished a stint in Shreveport, LA. The next few days are going to be really nice and above average across the Central and Southern Plains. Highs are expected to be in the 70s and 80s. As we jump ahead a few days, the middle and end of next week are looking quite active and stormy! The stubborn high pressure ridge will begin to break down enough to allow for some of the energy from the West to push eastward.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1763151832914.png">Although we are a couple of days out from the event, some of the early signs show chances of heavy rain and possible severe weather chances increasing across the Southern Plains starting Wednesday. No severe outlook has been highlighted but that could change as we get closer to next week. Along with the severe threat, the incoming pattern shift will create a heavy rain threat for parts of the Plains. While the moisture is needed for parts of the South, a flood threat is looking possible with repeated rounds of storms during the second half of next week!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-15 043216-1763206343473.png"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-15 043232-1763206359145.png">

Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

A ridge of high pressure that brought record warmth to the West is sliding eastward. This means the heat will shift east as well, and we could see multiple records broken from Thursday through Sunday! The temperatures will climb this week as the ridge dominates! Several records fell across parts of the Plains on Friday. More will be likely this weekend!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1763176812144.png"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/2-1763176817424.png"><h1>Plains &amp; Midwest</h1>Temperatures will run 10°- 20°+ above average for a lot of folks. Kansas City normally averages 55° for this time of year, and will see highs in the low 70s on Saturday. St. Louis normally averages 57° and will see 80° on Saturday, running over 20 degrees above average!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1763176900638.png"><h1>South Central</h1>Texas is no stranger to heat, and will run well-above average into the weekend. The Space Weather Prediction Center correctly said Tuesday, November 11th, that aurora chances could be seen as far south as Alabama and California. As of 1 pm ET on November 12th, the SWPC issued a Geomagnetic Storm Watch of G4 or higher, the same alert level issued for Tuesday night into Wednesday!<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-12 112939-1762972276799.png"><h3>THE FORECAST:</h3>Timing with the arrival of CMEs and their corresponding aurora is difficult to forecast, but this is the latest outlook from the Space Weather Prediction Center (released around midday Wednesday) for Wednesday night. The season’s first Arctic blast surged into the South, arriving nearly three weeks ahead of meteorological winter, which begins December 1. Driven by a deep upper-level trough, this system has funneled frigid Canadian air all the way down to Texas. Multiple record lows were set over the past few days across the south and southeast. The lake effect snow season has arrived, with heavy snow expected now through Tuesday. Places in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan have already received a foot of snow! <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-10 054716-1762778844004.jpg"> Winter weather alerts remain in place all across the shores of the Great Lakes through Tuesday. An additional 6-12" in some locations, with heavy snowfall rates likely reducing visibility at times, will make travel very difficult.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-11 073236-1762871565435.jpg"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-11 105614-1762883788305.png"><h1>How Lake Effect Works</h1>Water has a much higher heat capacity than air, meaning it takes more time to warm up and cool down. This leads to "mild" water temperatures in the Great Lakes while the air overhead can be much cooler. As the cold, dry air moves over these areas, it's able to evaporate moisture from the lakes until it condenses into clouds and precipitation before falling out over land. Typically, we need at least a 13° F difference between the lake water and the air aloft (around 1500 m, or 4500-5000 ft) for lake effect snow to form.<h1>Forecast</h1>With winds coming over the Great Lakes, we can still anticipate lake effect snowfall to continue. Next, a quick-moving clipper will move through to bring a few wintry bands to the snowbelt.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/11-11 rne-1762883738383.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>Take this snow event as an example for the next one, make sure your vehicle is ready for winter travel with some good tread on your tires and a winter driving kit.
