Winter Storm Warnings and Winter Weather Advisories have been issued and will remain in place through midday on Wednesday.</p><h1>TIMING</h1><p>The first round of precipitation continues to move through, and on Wednesday and Thursday, another batch of snow, ice, and rain will move through further to the north. Driving can be hazardous during this time so please use caution. <p>The jet stream shifts south and targets Colorado with cold and snow starting 2/11 and continuing through 2/17. Denver could see several inches during this timeframe. The Mountains could see 1-3 feet of total accumulation.</p><p>Timing:</p><p>1) An Arctic cold front hits Denver and the Front Range late 2/11 into early 2/12. Light to moderate snow accumulation is likely for the I-25 Corridor and I-70 Corridor into the Mountains.</p><p>2) A strong area of low pressure 2/14-2/15 delivers heavy snow accumulation to all mountain zones. Potentially 1-3 feet of total accumulation. Light snow accumulation for Denver and the Front Range.</p><p>Below is the forecast for atmospheric moisture on Wednesday, 2/12. <p>Another Colorado Low will start to cut through the Plains overnight and  into Wednesday. From Kansas to Illinois, heavy snow is expected to come down as this system slides east. Winter storm warnings are in effect where the heaviest  snow is expected. Winter storm watches will likely get upgraded in the next day or so.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/into thursdddaaaay-1739324620460.png">Heavy snow is developing and this low will move to the east-northeast over the next few days bringing winter impacts. The Wednesday morning and evening commutes will likely be a mess.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/fkskldfjaj-1739324710504.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>With accumulations in the 6-12" range, impacts from travel issues to isolated power outages should be expected.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/Screenshot 2025-02-11 061035-1739279495559.jpg">Bigger cities like Kansas City are staring down some pretty large numbers. Heavy Snow Returns to the Plains

Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

<h1>NORTHERN PLAINS</h1><p>A blast of arctic air remains in portions of the northern plains. Extreme cold alerts are in place through Thursday morning. Dangerous wind chills can occur with values as low as 50 below zero. In these conditions, frostbite can occur in as little as 10 minutes, so dress in layers if you have to be outside.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/wind chilsllsss-1739328216977.png">As this frigid air dominates the Northern plains, temps will remain below average and COLD! Temperatures will be below average across the board. Bismarck normally has an already cold average of 5° for this time of year, but will be waking up to extreme cold and temperatures below zero through Friday.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/wedlff-1739326842883.png">The cold air remains in place over the next few days! The wind chills will again dig into the -20s, -30s, and -40s. Some spots can see wind chills up to -50° below zero! This weather is extremely dangerous, so layer up and use caution if you have to go outdoors.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/sssss-1739326923602.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>NORTHWEST</h1><p>A shot of dry arctic air will bring extremely cold temps across the Northwest. Extreme cold alerts are in place through Thursday morning. Northerly winds will create wind chills below zero.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/into thrusday-1739327034043.png">Forecast lows will be below average and cold! Seattle and Portland normally see temps in the upper 30s, and you will wake up to the low 20s. Medford will start Wednesday in the teens. <p>A series of systems will impact the Midsouth this week bringing the region a good amount of rain and even the chance for severe thunderstorms. Overnight, a threat of strong to severe storms (above)  is in place for portions of Texas. Cities like Houston and San Antonio are included. Damaging winds and hail will be the primary concern. </p><h1>RAIN IMPACTS </h1><p>2-5" of rain will be expected to be widespread with isolated higher amounts. Localized flooding could be possible as rivers, creeks, and streams will need to be monitored. An excessive rainfall outlook has been issued for the region on Tuesday &amp; Wednesday for some of the same cities. Widespread rain from Austin, Texas to Knoxville, TN will surpass 5+"</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/Web 15-1739280933194.png">By Wednesday afternoon and evening a cold front will work across Louisiana and spark potential severe thunderstorms. On Wednesday, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama are under a marginal risk for severe weather. Damaging wind and tornadoes will be the largest weather concern with the storms that do develop.</p><h1><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/Web 12-1739280797278.png"><strong>TIMING </strong></h1><p>As a frontal boundary continues to linger storms will develop along through Thursday. Deep South Stays Stormy This Week

<p>By now, the South is no stranger to warmer weather, as temperatures have been above average for over a week. More records fell on Sunday for cities like Charlotte, North Carolina, and Greer, South Carolina. Cooler air will funnel in, but by Midweek, portions of the Gulf and Florida have the potential for more record warmth.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/RECORDS DUNDAY-1739153469144.png">The next round of record temps will be on Wednesday - Thursday. Texas, Louisiana, Florida, and southern Georgia all have the potential to see records broken!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/fess-1739153596630.png"></p><h1><strong>SOUTHEAST</strong></h1><p>Not everyone will see the warm air, but the southerly flow will bring warm air to cities like New Orleans and Montgomery, Alabama. Another Batch of Record Warmth in the South

Meteorologist Jesse Kelley is excited to join the talented staff at Weather Nation. Jesse spent most of his childhood in Birmingham, Alabama. The state of Alabama is prone to seeing various types of weather from severe thunderstorms, tornadoes, hurricanes, and winter weather. For college, Jesse attended the University of South Alabama where he received his degree in Broadcast Meteorology along with minors in Math and Geography. From Alabama, Jesse started his broadcast television working three years at KAVU-TV in Victoria. Recently, he finished a stint in Shreveport, LA. <p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/02/1-1739061270112.png">Around 6PM ET, a magnitude 7.6 earthquake was detected in the Western Caribbean between the Cayman Islands and Honduras. Over the past few hours, there has been a few aftershocks near the epicenter. Also, there has been a few smaller earthquakes near Puerto Rico.</p><p>According to the USGS, it is not out of the ordinary to see earthquakes at this location. The last earthquake nearby this location was back in January 2018 with a magnitude of 7.5. A small tsunami was caused similar to tonight's earthquake. The danger of tsunamis have ended and there is no threat to the Gulf waters.</p><p>We will keep you updated as this is a developing story.</p>

Strong Earthquake in Western Caribbean Saturday Night

The Carr fire, fueled by hot and dry conditions, has now charred through 95,368 acres and is only a mere 5% contained as of late Sunday, according to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, known as Cal Fire.

The flames are still burning out of control and are, unfortunately, to blame for 6 deaths as of early Monday.  The new reported death came on Sunday;however, the name of the person has not been released to the public. The death toll also includes 70-year-old Melody Bledsoe and her great-grandchildren, 4-year-old Emily Roberts and 5-year-old James Roberts that were confirmed dead on Saturday.

<div class="zn-body__paragraph">There are more than 3,000 fire personnel that are battling the flames with more than 300 engines and approximately 17 helicopters.</div>
<div class="zn-body__paragraph">According to Cal Fire officials, the fire began Monday when a vehicle suffered mechanical failure, officials said. Firefighters had been making progress containing it until Thursday night, when it began to quickly spread due to erratic winds and continued hot temperatures.</div>
