Heavy mountain snows have returned to the West this week.  A series of low pressure centers have been spreading precipitation throughout the Southwest. More than a foot of snow has accumulated in the higher elevations. Snowfall will linger in the Colorado Rockies today. Up to 6" of additional accumulation is possible in the high country of Colorado. Snowfall has tapered across the rest of the West. Tropical moisture has been streaming into the Southwest from the Pacific, bringing the heavy areas of rain and snow. Lingering Jet Stream energy will keep the snow around into this afternoon, with snow ending by tonight (Friday). If you have travel plans in the areas under alerts, be sure to check back with us at WeatherNation on-air and online for updated forecasts.
