A stalled front will keep the next several days soggy across the South. A stretch of torrential downpours led to some new daily rainfall records, in places like Florence, SC which picked up more than 2 inches of rain Monday.
The past few days have varied the intensity of the storms, with some storms carrying flooding rain alongside strong, gusty winds. While severe weather isn't expected to be widespread, a few windy storms will be possible in the next few afternoons.
Keep in mind that any thunderstorm can pose severe hazards, such as dangerous cloud-to-ground lightning, heavy rainfall, flash flooding, and damaging wind gusts. It's never a bad idea to be prepared for the threat of strong storms.
As this frontal system remains stalled, more scattered storms and showers will continue for the next several days. Some locations will pick up 3-5 inches of rain, on top of what they might have already received.
