Labor Day is considered the unofficial close of Summer in many eyes. Everyone's going back to school and bracing for the return of Fall. Before we slip into winter some of the top destinations are to some notably cooler locations, for interesting reasons. Folks are trying to sneak in an Alaskan cruise before a trip like that is far to cold. Top destinations that are in the country:

  • Seattle

  • Orlando

  • New York City

Trends this year

Domestic travel appears more affordable vs last year in some key areas, according to AAA. Gas prices are expected to be stable as we close out Summer unofficially. Transportation analytics reccomend traveling early in the day to avoid the worst congestion.

  • Domestic flights are 6% cheaper, with an average of $720 per ticket.

  • Hotel stays in the U.S. have seen an 11% decrease

  • Car rentals are 3% cheaper, with the average cost for a multi-day booking at $545

  • International car rentals are down 42% for anyone heading to Europe

  • Cruise prices have dropped 9% that depart from international ports

  • International flights are up 8% with round-trip tickeds running over $1,400

FORECAST

As for who should brace for additional issues, even if you're just throwing something on the grill, the Gulf Coast States appear to have the highest threat of rain. While we might have more showers up north, the severe threat should be pretty limited, give how cool we've been for most of this week.
