Flash flooding developed quickly Saturday morning for parts of Texas and Louisiana as heavy rain moved through. Some places received more than 5" of rain early in the morning Saturday around Beaumont, Texas. Rain totals as of 11am CT Saturday, Jan 27 The National Weather Service reported cars flooded and stalled in high water in Port Arthur and Orange, TX early in the morning. Remember, it may not be safe to drive across flooded roadways. 'Turn around, don't drown' is a good way to stay safe while driving through heavy rain and flooding. Heavy rain streaming in from the Gulf of Mexico will provide ample moisture for the rain to continue through the weekend across the Gulf coast states. https://twitter.com/WeatherNation/status/957290017876934657 In general, 1-3" of widespread totals can be expected for parts of Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida through the weekend, but locally higher amounts up to 6" will be possible. Rain forecast through the weekend There is still a flash flood watch for much of the area through the remainder of the day Saturday. A flash flood watch means flooding is still possible, and residents should stay alert to quickly changing conditions and rising water.
