<p><strong>WEST </strong>- A series of atmospheric rivers have been responsible for wet, windy, and snowy weather in the northwestern U.S over the last few weeks. The next round of rain and snow is taking shape as our next river pushes in. Some areas with the most recent lashing of rain picked up a few inches of rain coming into this weekend. </p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 044135-1762083703616.jpg"></p><p>Our next system is gathering moisture and will work onshore early this week, bringing back more chances for rain and snow.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-01 073406-1762004067756.png"></p><p>Wednesday looks to be the day with the most widespread rain, which could lead to a renewed round of flooding. Parts of the northern Cascades could receive a foot or more of snow on the highest peaks. <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 044313-1762083801790.jpg">With multiple inches of rain on the way, the Weather Prediction Center is already monitoring coastal areas. Starting on Tuesday, the threat for flash flooding will return. <p style="margin: 0in; margin-bottom: .0001pt;"><span style="font-size: 13.5pt; color: #454545;">Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

<p>We're well on our way to winter, but high temperatures will be soaring across the Western and Central United States to start the month of November. Upper-level ridging is shifting east across the Southwest this weekend before settling over the Southern Plains during the work week. <br><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 044306-1762083839536.png">Numerous high temperature records fell on Saturday, primarily in Nevada and Montana.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 044314-1762083839540.png">We're well on our way to winter but high temperatures will be soaring across the Western and Central United States to start the month of November. Upper-level ridging is expected to build across the Southwest this weekend before shifting slightly east into next week.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 044905-1762084160981.png">Record high temperatures are possible around Nevada and Arizona Saturday before record warmth targets the Front Range of Colorado on Sunday. A few record highs will be possible in Colorado and Texas into Monday and Tuesday.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 045416-1762084464102.png">Another ridge of high pressure will move in after a cut-off low moves through the Southwest. How to Help Those Impacted by Hurricane Melissa

<p>Coastal areas will be dealing with intrusions of ocean water, known as coastal flooding, during the week ahead with the return of king tides! </p><h2>What is a "king tide?"</h2><p>When the gravitational pull of the sun and moon are both higher than normal, high and low tides become more pronounced, leading to flooding during high tide and potentially low water issues during the low tides. </p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 051621-1762088418982.png">This happens most often from the fall through the spring as the sun's gravitational pull on the earth is the strongest. Despite winter conditions in North America, the sun is actually closest to the earth in early January.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 051520-1762088418986.png"><br><br>King tides are most pronounced when the moon is at its closest point to the Earth in its orbit, which is known as perigee. This is happening at the same time as the full moon for both November and December, creating what's known as a supermoon. During these supermoon events, the moon will be about 14,000 miles closer to the Earth than normal!</p><h2><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 060337-1762088634156.png">November King Tides</h2><p>King tides will be ramping up throughout the week ahead. Note how much the tidal range grows in Charleston from Sunday to Wednesday, increasing from about 5.3 feet to over 7.5 feet by Wednesday! </p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 055916-1762088653775.png">Tides near Miami (Virginia Key below) will also increase this week, increasing from about 2 feet to 3 feet!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 055938-1762088653772.png">Coastal flood alerts will likely be issued as we get closer to the mid-week timeframe, so be sure to check your high tide times locally and avoid areas near the coast during those times.<br><br>December will also feature a round of king tides with another supermoon!</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-02 054718-1762088653776.png"></p>

King Tides Return to Start the Month

<p>An upper-level low has been moving across the country, bringing rainy, windy, and cooler weather to many areas. Heavy rain caused flooding issues in the Northeast on Thursday where over 3 inches of rain fell in New York and New Jersey. The system moves out later tonight but parts of Northern New England could see some light snow.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/New Baron Video 3-1761966114231.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>We may even see minor snow accumulations in parts of the Adirondacks, as well as the Green and White mountains.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/1-1761966147465.png"></p><p>As the rain clears, expect cloudy, cool, and gusty conditions to persist into Saturday morning. Gusty Winds & Rain Linger in the Northeast on Friday

<p>I will never forget the time it snowed in southwest Missouri on Halloween. Going from house to house for as long as we could stand it before piling back in the car because we were so cold. It doesn't USUALLY snow that early in Springfield, or any other part of the country for that matter this early into Fall.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-27 111421-1761585271271.png">So let's see if Mother Nature is feeling in the mood to traumatize more youth this upcoming weekend.</p><h1>Forecast</h1><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/2025-10-31 06-01-58-1761912346800.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>Low-pressure systems will create some heavy rain in the corners of the country with some drizzle in the Midwest. Clear and dry conditions will persist for much of the country with mild temperatures for many.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/2025-10-31 06-02-14-1761912160076.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><h1>TROUBLE SPOTS</h1><p>"Trouble" means a lot of different things for people on Halloween. Trouble, to us, is going to mean rain. Not much worse than spending all of that time and energy into a costume just to get rained on. While you might see some rain icons in the forecast in the northeast, there's a strong possibility we kick the rain out by the afternoon/evening, when it matters, except for portions of northern New York and Vermont. We're concerned with some areas in the Northwest, like Seattle, where the rain might be both consistent and heavy at times. Coldest spot will likely be in the Upper Midwest, but any lingering cloud cover should help keep temps from freezing during trick-or-treat hours.</p><h1>PICK OF THE NATION</h1><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/Screenshot 2025-10-27 111630-1761585733352.png">When. FORECAST: Halloween Night Shaping Up Okay For Many

Taban Sharifi grew up in Southern California between Los Angeles and San Diego. She is a Certified Broadcast Meteorologist (CBM) with the American Meteorological Society (AMS). She has a B.S. in Atmospheric, Oceanic, and Environmental Sciences with a minor in Environmental Systems and Society from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Go Bruins! While in school, Taban was a meteorology intern with NBC LA. There she helped forecast daily weather for the greater Los Angeles region and created a playbook to deploy weather sensors for NBC owned-and-operated stations across the country. Her first on-air job took her to San Angelo, Texas, where she was a morning meteorologist and co-anchor. Working in West Texas gave her knowledge and experience covering severe storms. From there, she moved to Palm Springs, California. People think forecasting in California is sunshine all the time, but with temperatures in the 120’s, wildfires, damaging winds, floodings, and earthquakes, the forecasting kept her very busy! She also worked there as a general assignment reporter and told community stories. Taban is excited for the challenge and opportunity to forecast nationally with WeatherNation. She also looks forward to exploring all that Colorado has to offer!

<p>Our first major lake effect snow event wraps up in parts of the northeast. Winds have been from the west and northwest, which supported heavy snow on the east side of Lake Erie, Ontario, and Michigan with heavy snow seen in the U.P. of Michigan from Lake Superior. Winter alerts expired Wednesday morning, but expect some slippery driving through the day.
