The remnants of Beryl continued to break records for most tornado warnings issued in a day for various offices across the country. On Tuesday these offices included Shreveport and Lake Charles. Wednesday, the NWS of Buffalo broke a record for the most tornado warnings in a day and the most tornado warnings issued in a year. Beryl made landfall on the coast of Texas early Monday morning as a category 1 Hurricane.
Heavy rainfall on the order of 3-5" led to flash flooding across the area, including in Vermont, exactly one year to the day of the catastrophic, historic flooding of 2023. Beryl, combined with a trough of low pressure, kept the entire Northeast stormy Wednesday. Multiple tornadoes touched down, including one near Buffalo, NY.
The Storm Prediction Center had highlighted an ENHANCED RISK (level 3 out of 5) for portions of New York, Pennsylvania, Vermont and New Hampshire. The rest of the severe risk extends as far south as North Carolina and as far north and east as Maine.
