A powerful area of low pressure and associated cold front are moving east, keeping the risk for severe weather in the Southeast on Friday. All modes of severe weather are possible, including tornadoes in Alabama, South Georgia, and SE Mississippi. Damaging winds are more likely, especially as this line pushes to the Gulf and there is severe thunderstorm watch in effect through early evening.

Scattered severe storms are possible in portions of Alabama and Mississippi, with isolated severe storms possible elsewhere for areas in green (below). Damaging winds are expected to pose the main threat, with a few tornadoes possible.

This follows numerous severe storms in the mid-South on Thursday which produced damaging winds, tornadoes and large hail. Please stay weather aware throughout the day on Friday.
