This is your semi-annual reminder to set your clocks forward an hour before you to go bed on Saturday night! Daylight Saving Time begins at 2 a.m. on Sunday, March 10th. For those who still have manual clocks on their radio in their car, on the stove or microwave in the kitchen, or on the radio in their bedroom, you won't want to be an hour late on Sunday morning!
One popular opinion, about the time change, is that we're granted later sunsets and more light during the evening hours. At the top of this article, you'll see that by Sunday evening in Miami, the sunset won't occur until 7:27 p.m. local time! For cities that sit on the western edge of a time zone, such as Bismarck in North Dakota, the sunrise won't occur until after 8 a.m. local time Sunday!
Across the Lower 48 on Saturday, for the final day (in most states) of Standard Time, many will experience mild sunshine. The center of the Contiguous U.S. will be clear, while the Northwest and East Coast get heavy wind and rain.
Sunday will continue to warm in the central U.S. while cooling in the East and Northwest.
On Sunday, colder air in the Northeast will provide lake-effect snow showers while the mountains in the Pacific Northwest and the Sierra Nevada range get snow showers. Otherwise, it'll be sunny and warm!
For those beginning spring break this weekend, temperatures are cooling off to close out the weekend.
If you're vacationing for Spring Break across the Colorado Rockies (to go skiing) you're in luck! Fresh snow will blanket the mountains under bluebird sky conditions.
