Storms have been wreaking havoc across the lower 48 over the past few days! Thursday saw widespread destructive hail from Oklahoma through Ohio, with numerous tornadoes causing damage. Further south, additional storms fired up on Friday, mainly in Texas and Louisiana. Additional strong storms are possible in Texas and Louisiana overnight and into Sunday, with an elevated hail threat persisting.
The Storm Prediction Center (SPC) continues to issue a SLIGHT risk overnight and into Sunday morning for the damaging hail threat. The slight (yellow region - top of page) risk is where we find high confidence in severe storms. This includes the city of San Antonio.
The window for the strongest storms remains overnight, as a complex develops in Mexico before moving across Texas through the pre-dawn hours. Be sure to protect your property before you go to bed!
Rainfall will be heavy at times, with 1-3" of rain where thunderstorms develop. Pockets of 4-5" of rain are possible, which could lead to flash flooding in several areas.
Storms will linger in this region on Sunday, with a continued threat of flooding and severe storms.
