A magnitude 5.3 earthquake shook parts of southwestern California early Thursday afternoon.
The USGS reports it happened around 12:30 PM PT about 35 miles southwest of the Channel Islands.
A tsunami is not expected to impact the United States.
The shaking was felt from Santa Barbara to Los Angeles to Huntington Beach.
