Snow, freezing rain and 20° temperatures is just another day for most in the middle of January. But that's definitely not the case for New Orleans. On Tuesday night, New Orleans received a trace of snow after a period of freezing rain, leading to slick roads in the area. Temperatures plummeted to 20° on Wednesday morning in New Orleans, breaking a new record for the date. Not far away, Baton Rouge, Louisiana saw its coldest temperature since 1989 with a Wednesday morning low of 14°. https://twitter.com/SophiaGermer/status/953642601722318849 https://twitter.com/IanMcNultyNOLA/status/953625175651749888 Schools were closed in the Orleans Parish School on Wednesday, and Louis Armstrong International Airport's runways were closed until noon on Wednesday due to the snow and ice.
