A building ridge over the southeast is bringing very warm temperatures to the south and central portions of the United States. Multiple heat advisories are in effect from Illinois down to Mississippi. Excessive heat warnings are in effect around St. Louis. Temperatures will be quite warm over the next few days. The lower to mid 90s should be expected. Plenty of moisture in the atmosphere will make it feel hotter than the temperatures on the maps. Many cities will feel like they are in the triple digits. Make sure to stay hydrated over the next few days and stay indoors as much as possible. Temperatures will start to cool down on Wednesday as a cold front, that is situated in the high plains, continues to shift towards the east.   For WeatherNation -Meteorologist Shelly Lindblade
