The city of Lynchburg, Virginia is on high alert as officials warn the College Lake Dam in the area is in danger of failing. This comes as significant flooding wreaked havoc on the city yesterday. According to the National Weather Service, Emergency management reported Friday morning that 4 to 6 inches of heavy rain Thursday evening has caused College Lake Dam to remain above its capacity, and that water continues to flow uncontrolled over Lakeside Drive into Blackwater Creek. And more rain is in the forecast. Evacuations are underway, which began on Thursday, for the area of Black Creek Trail, where 124 houses are being threatened.
