The severe weather chances will shift East today with the highest chance for an isolated severe storm over parts of eastern New Mexico and western Texas.  Large hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado will be possible.  We are hopeful that these areas could also see some good rainfall with the exceptional drought conditions in place.

Severe Outlook

Marginal risk of severe weather for areas like Lubbock, Fort Stockton and Roswell today.  The severe storm chances will likely be for the afternoon and evening.

Severe Threats

All of the severe weather threats will be there with today's forecast, but the chances are not high.  That is why we are looking at an isolated severe storm or two.  This won't be a widespread severe weather event.

Forecast

Some scattered storms are in the forecast for western Texas later this morning.  The strong to severe storms will be firing up in eastern New Mexico by the early afternoon.  These are the storms that could be severe with large hail, damaging winds and an isolated tornado.   Keep it tuned to WeatherNation for the latest updates on today's severe weather threat.   Meteorologist Patrick Crawford
