The Spring Equinox occurs Tuesday night, but many across the south will wake up to a wintry airmass Tuesday morning. The cold follows a front that brought storms to the Gulf Coast over the weekend. Frost and freeze alerts are issued through the late morning, with more likely on the way as forecast details are fine-tuned. These alerts are issued for areas that have entered growing season or have had an early bloom. Take precautions to protect any sensitive vegetation!

Low temperatures into Tuesday morning are expected to be in the 30s as far south as the Florida Panhandle, with colder temperatures to the north. Overnight lows look to rebound quickly through the middle of the week as southerly flow returns to the region.

A freeze is fairly common for this region in mid/late March, but it could be the last one for the rest of the season!
