Heat advisories have been issued for much of the East Coast Wednesday as residents brace for another hot afternoon. Highs will climb to the 80s and 90s with heat index values in the 100s for New England and the coastal areas of the Carolinas. Stay safe in the heat.  Heat exhaustion, cramps and heat stroke are all possible with these high heat index values. Stay hydrated, provide plenty of water to pets and keep an eye on children and the elderly. The extreme heat should break in time for the weekend, but highs will still remain warm.
