The hottest temperatures of the year are on the way for many east of the Rockies. Naturally, it will be the first official day of Summer, so I guess we can't complain. The strong high that is responsible for all of the heat in the southwest is on the move. As that slides northeast, it will bring the stifling heat with it.
Areas from the Central Plains to the Northeast will see temperatures reach well into the 90's and could feel close to 100+. Since this is the first stretch of hot weather of the season, it's important to prepare mentally ahead of time.
Try to limit any strenuous activities outdoors this weekend. Drink plenty of water and take multiple breaks if you do venture outdoors.
Is this normal? It's a little ahead of schedule. Many places don't see their first 100 day until sometime in July.
