The strong low-pressure system that moved through the Northeast is finally starting to taper off. However, this low will keep the pattern active for some in the New England Region through Saturday with winds, rain, and additional snow.
As of Saturday morning, we are still dealing with over 184K customers without power primarily in Maine and New Hampshire. This system caused downed power lines with hurricane-force wind gusts, in addition to accumulating snowfall. Mt. Washington, NH recorded a 108 mph gust on Thursday!
Storm total snowfall has surpassed 2' in parts of New England. Remember that it is early April, and this heavy snowfall is late for this time of the year. A little more snow is to come in parts of New Hampshire and Maine, too.
The low-pressure system will gradually begin to end as the low finally moves out into the Atlantic. For the weekend, much of the Northeast looks to be in the clear but for New England still off and on rain and snow showers. The highest amounts of snowfall will likely occur in the higher terrain of northern New England.
