Before Relief Arrives, Increased Fire Danger Again for Southwest

Red Flag Warnings were posted for parts of already hard-hit Colorado and Utah, signaling the possibility of more wildfires in a part of the country that has already seen plenty of them lately. The warnings, which mean conditions for starting fires are especially high, are for mountainous areas of central and western Colorado and much of central and southern Utah for Thursday. Avoid any outdoor burning, closely monitor any burn bans, avoid anything with a spark outside and carefully dispose of any cigarette butts. The good news is that some relief, hopefully in the form of drought-easing rains, arrive this weekend and perhaps into early next week. For more on that, read this from Meteorologist Merry Matthews.
