A large area of low pressure that has been bringing heavy rain to the Southeast will finally push north this weekend, bringing relief to the Carolinas. However, a few showers and storms linger for the Southeast, in Florida through the weekend. Flood alerts remain in effect for southern Georgia and northern Florida to account for additional rainfall over water logged soils, but our heaviest rain will be in south and central Florida.
Showers and storms will develop during the heat of the day and die off by sundown, driven by the sea breeze and weak energy moving through. Remember, when thunder roars, head indoors.
The rain hasn't been all bad - check out the immense drought improvements in western Florida over the last month thanks to the rainfall. This should seriously help fire danger concerns in the sunshine state.
