Rain and heavy snow will continue for the northwest throughout the day today. Minor flooding is still happening for the Skokomish River but it should be below flood stage by the afternoon, today. The Nooksack River at Ferndale could also reach flood stage today and will be monitored closely throughout the day. If you live near these rivers, make sure to pay attention to the water levels throughout the day.   Conditions will be much better for the northwest for the first half of the day on Thursday. Rain will start to push into southern Oregon and Idaho by the afternoon on Tuesday as a front from the south pushes in. Heavy rain and snow should be expected throughout the second half of the day. By Friday, another front will move into the northwest bringing in more rain and heavy snow. Rain will not be has heavy as what we have been seeing for the past few days.  1 to 2 inches of rain will be expected over the next few days. As far as snow totals go, up to a foot of snow could be possible. This is especially true for higher elevations. In the Sierra Nevada mountain range in California, snow totals above 7000 ft could reach up to 3 ft!   A LOOK AHEAD
