Rob grew up in South Florida, where daily afternoon storms and hurricanes piqued his interest in meteorology early on. That interest was fostered by his teachers and his father, who one time brought him onto the roof of their home to watch a funnel cloud move through the Everglades several miles away. Years of filmmaking and tv production in high school gradually pushed him toward broadcast meteorology at Florida State University, where he joined and eventually led the student run daily weather show. After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. He also enjoys telling stories and reporting about weather issues.

Secondary severe weather season is underway across the U.S. - so called because it typically pales in comparison to the primary severe weather season in the spring. However, the fall can provide high end severe weather threats of its own, including the December 2021 tornado outbreak. Thankfully the severe weather setup for this Friday through Sunday doesn't look to be on the high-end, but a few scattered severe storms will be possible.<hr><h1>SETUP</h1>Gulf moisture will be surging north in warm air to meet the cold front - where wind shear will be elevated to help organize updrafts. Areas across the Midsouth (KY/TN) will have the best combination of ingredients to see scattered severe storms.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-06 071304-1762438400038.png">Gulf moisture will be surging north in warm air to meet the cold front - where wind shear will be elevated to help organize updrafts. Areas across the Midsouth (KY/TN) will have the best combination of ingredients to see scattered severe storms.<h1>Severe Storm Outlooks/Hazards</h1>The risk for Friday covers a large area from Ohio to the Gulf Coast (top of page), including a level 2 risk in the Mid-South. The elevated risk is for scattered hail storms, so be sure to prepare ahead of time by protecting property that could be damaged (vehicles/patio furniture/etc.). As the winds will be turning with height, an isolated tornado risk is also in place from Kentucky through Florida.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-07 064543-1762523191673.png">The threat for isolated severe storms will continue Saturday into Sunday as the cold front is dragged through the south. Record heat has been the story for the Lone Star State this week, with multiple records falling on Wednesday and Thursday. Additional record high temperatures are expected Friday and Saturday before the coldest air of the season (so far) arrives this weekend! <img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/1-1762486069442.png">A strong upper-level low will help to drive multiple cold fronts across the country this weekend into early next week. Arctic Blast To Bring Freezing Air to the South

Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. NORTHERN PLAINS - As we head into the end of the week, an upper-level trough north of the border will usher cooler air into the northern U.S. With a couple of fronts passing through, temperatures may drop low enough to support some snow. This first front will bring mostly rain to the U.S., with a few flurries possible. A series of atmospheric rivers has been responsible for wet, windy, and snowy weather in the northwestern U.S over the last few weeks. Our system is currently moving through Washington, Oregon, and the northern tier of California, bringing heavy rainfall and snow. Above is the forecast rainfall totals for the next several days. Gold Beach in Oregon has already picked up 2.51" of rainfall in the past 24 hours.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Web1-1762440546220.png">With multiple inches of rain on the way, the Weather Prediction Center is monitoring coastal areas at a level 1, MARGINAL, risk for excessive rainfall that may lead to flash flooding.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 095854-1762361963192.png"><h2>Timing</h2>Precipitation across the Northwest should continue for the next few hours. NORTHEAST - The Storm Prediction Center has maintained an overnight MARGINAL (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe weather overnight across portions of the northeastern U.S. for a few gusty storms that could reach severe limits as our cold front exits.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/main threattttt-1762392343860.png"><h2>Wind + Fire Danger</h2>Widespread wind alerts remain in place through Thursday. Some airports have been experiencing delays because of the strong winds. If you have any travel plans, be sure to check for updates and delays.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/11/Screenshot 2025-11-05 173942-1762389589730.png">Due to some drier conditions further south and the potential for gusty winds, several red flag warnings have been issued. An upper-level low has been moving across the country, bringing rainy, windy, and cooler weather to many areas. Heavy rain caused flooding issues in the Northeast on Thursday where over 3 inches of rain fell in New York and New Jersey. The system moves out later tonight but parts of Northern New England could see some light snow.<video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/New Baron Video 3-1761966114231.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video>We may even see minor snow accumulations in parts of the Adirondacks, as well as the Green and White mountains.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/10/1-1761966147465.png">As the rain clears, expect cloudy, cool, and gusty conditions to persist into Saturday morning. Gusty Winds & Rain Linger in the Northeast on Friday

Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

The severe threat for Southern Florida has been downgraded to a general risk of a few storms tonight.
