Originally born in Spokane, Washington,  Jackie's Dad was in the Air Force which led her to a life of travel. She has lived in Wichita, Okinawa, Japan, Baltimore, New Jersey, Indiana and South Carolina.  After graduating from Kadena High School, in Okinawa Japan, she got a full basketball scholarship to Coppin State College. On the court she was a 4-year starter and reached over 1000 points in her basketball career. She was also named Athlete of the Year for the whole university in 2002. Off the court, she earned a degree in Broadcast Production/English.

After college, she landed a job as a radio personality. Jackie went on to have a successful career for 12 years working at KXLY broadcast center. While on the radio, she decided to change career. Jackie went back to school, graduating from the Mississippi State Meteorology Broadcast Program. From snow, to tornadoes, to hurricanes, she has had experience forecasting all these events.

<p>A strong area of high pressure has taken over the West, which means warm-to-hot temperatures are in effect for this portion of the country. Record warmth is in full swing, and multiple records were broken today through the Southwest. Riverside, CA tied the previous record high with 94°. Phoenix and Yuma, Arizona beat out previous records as both cities saw highs today in the upper 90s. </p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/CA REC-1742865540918.png"><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/AZ RECORD-1742865547568.png">Over the next few days, the West is on track to see dozens of records tied or broken. Here's a look at where records can be broken for Tuesday through Thursday.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/recod-1742865759652.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>These record-breaking temperatures can be especially impactful early in the season when a lot of people are not yet used to the heat. The Heat Risk is expected to reach a moderate level (2 out of 4) on Tuesday, expected to be the warmest day for many in the deserts.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-24 055002-1742817192809.jpg"></p><h1>Forecast Highs</h1><p>Areas in the Sonoran Desert (Phoenix, Palm Springs, Yuma) are expected to reach the upper 90s and could surpass 100° early in the week. The earliest day in the year on record for Phoenix to hit 100° or higher is March 26th, one day after peak high temperatures are expected in southern Arizona.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/southwestsss-1742865948369.png">The Pacific Northwest will see temperatures over 20 degrees above average for some. Cities in this region will climb into the 70s and a few in the 80s. Boise normally sees a high of 57°, but on Wednesday the forecast high is 81°! </p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/nrorr-1742865960386.png">The Northern Rockies could see rapid snow melt through next week as high temperatures climb to more than 20° above average. Billings, Cheyenne, and Rapid City are all expected to climb into the 70s.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/rickckc-1742865968033.png">If you plan to spend time outdoors, especially when venturing farther away from cities on a hike or similar, be sure to bring plenty of water, take breaks in the shade, and wear loose, light-colored clothing.</p>

Alana Cameron was born and raised in Canada in the city of Mississauga, just outside of Toronto. Alana is the oldest of 4 siblings, all close in age, and grew up playing outside with them in all types of weather. After graduating high school, Alana moved to study at the University of British Columbia in Kelowna for a year before transferring to Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia where she completed a Bachelor of Science in Physics and Atmospheric Science. Upon completion, Alana moved back to Toronto where she completed a post-grad degree in Meteorology at York University. After her post-grad, she went on to complete another post-grad in Broadcast Journalism - TV News at Fanshawe College in London, Ontario. During her final year of studies she had the privilege of interning with the best in the business in Canada at The Weather Network. Once she finished her internship, she got the call from small-town Denison, Texas where she accepted a job as an on-air meteorologist at KTEN-TV, right in tornado alley, covering severe weather from Sherman/Denison (North Texas) to Ada (Southern Oklahoma). After the most active tornado season Oklahoma had seen in May 2019 (105 tornadoes!) Alana is excited to join WeatherNation to cover weather all across the nation. <p><strong>NORTHEAST</strong> - <strong>Winter weather advisories</strong> have been winding down for the Great Lakes and Northeast, with a few lingering through Tuesday morning. Precipitation is favored to be above-average in some areas of the Great Lakes and in northern and western Alaska.&nbsp;</p><h1>Drought &amp; Flooding</h1><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-20 095736-1742487814667.png">Moderate-to-exceptional drought conditions currently exist across more than 40% of the continental U.S. Drought conditions are likely to persist in the Southwest and parts of the Rocky Mountains, while drought improvement is forecast for the Great Lakes region. Drought development is likely across the central and southern Great Plains.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-20 101939-1742488289405.png"><br>Widespread major flooding is not expected this spring across the CONUS, and significantly reduced flood risk exists over much of the United States, given above average temperatures, combined with well below average snowpack over the Northern Plains, Midwest, and Ohio Valley. The reduced flood risk could lead to low flow impacts on navigation and saltwater intrusion on the Lower Mississippi River during the late summer and fall. This is the fourth year in a row with this risk.</p><p>Despite the overall reduced flood risk this spring, moderate flooding is expected in tributaries to the Lower Missouri River in Kansas and Missouri. This area typically experiences moderate flooding each spring, and despite the lack of snowpack, local antecedent conditions and typical spring rainfall will lead to the likelihood of moderate flooding on these tributaries.</p><p>Current water supply forecasts in the western United States indicate much below normal conditions for the Desert Southwest due to below average snowpack.</p><p>In Alaska, spring ice breakup and snowmelt flood risk is forecast to be above average for the Upper Yukon, Tanana, and Koyukuk River basins. Below average flood risk is expected in the Lower Yukon and Kuskokwim River basins, along with most of Southcentral Alaska.</p><p>Based on the expected spring flood outlook, hypoxia development in the Gulf of America and Chesapeake Bay is projected to not deviate from seasonal normals. Hypoxic zones directly impact commercial and recreational fisheries."</p><p style="text-align: start"></p>

<p>Very large hail has surfaced along our cold front from Texas through Kentucky from Sunday night. Hail upwards of 2.75" has come out of Sunday's storms from Texas through Alabama.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-24 100644-1742832577772.png">The SPC has removed the severe weather outlook along the Gulf Coast, and the rain is winding down. An isolated storm or two will be possible through the overnight hours.</p><video src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/vcv-1742866554694.mp4" controls="true" width="100%"></video><p>Some heavy rain along the Gulf may lead to flooding, there is a MARGINAL (level 1 out of 4) risk that rainfall could exceed flash flooding guidance in the areas highlighted below.</p><p><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-24 125453-1742842553239.png">Rainfall totals could surpass 1-3 inches in some locations, but a lot will be coming down in a short period of time. Heed any flash flood warnings, should they be issued later today.</p>

After graduating with a Bachelors of Science in Meteorology, he began his career at KESQ in Palm Springs, California before heading to KFSN in Fresno and WLOS in Asheville, North Carolina. He has covered a diverse array of extreme weather events, including haboobs and flash flooding in the desert, extreme snow in the Sierra, hurricanes, and Appalachian ice storms. <p><strong>FLORIDA</strong> - A wildfire in Miami-Dade County Florida shut down access to the Florida Keys on Tuesday on US 1 - with another closure on Thursday. The fire has now increased to over 26,000 acres with containment increasing to 65% as of late Sunday, according to the <a target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="https://ffs.firesponse.com/public/"><em>Florida Forest Service.</em></a><img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-23 140138-1742760129494.png"></p><p>Dry and breezy conditions will persist for the Southeast, prompting the issuance of fire weather alerts. It may seem strange for Florida, a typically humid state, to have wildfire danger, but the ongoing drought conditions and high winds have led to critical fire danger. This happens more often in the spring after drier conditions over the winter.<img src="https://media.weathernationtv.com/app/uploads/2025/03/Screenshot 2025-03-23 140348-1742760235712.png"></p><h1>Fire Outlook</h1><p>The SPC has maintained <strong>elevated fire danger</strong> back in the Plains through tomorrow. Tornadoes can happen any time, any day, any where. But </span><span style="color: rgb(13, 13, 13)">the strength of a tornado can only be determined by the damage it leaves behind. Parts of the south could see some showers and storms for Black Friday.  If you plan of looking for those amazing deals in cities like Houston, Little Rock or New Orleans, you will want to have the umbrella handy.  Luckily, we are not looking at a risk of severe with this particular set-up and even the rainfall overall shouldn't leading to a flash flooding issue.  Here is the very latest:

The severe weather risk will be very low, but from East Texas to the Florida Panhandle showers and storms will be possible.

A trough of low pressure will push across Oklahoma and eastern Texas, bringing a few downpours in the afternoon and evening. As humidity builds, storms will start to fire along the Gulf of Mexico coastline throughout the day. A low pressure center moving northward through the Gulf Friday evening into the weekend, the chance for thunderstorms will increase.
