After a busy end to the week, with a powerful line of storms prompting a MODERATE risk from the Storm Prediction Center, the active weather sticks around. Storms easily reached 70-80 mph with their winds with a few touching 100 MPH! Thankfully, the next few days shouldn't be nearly as intense...
Severe Thunderstorm Warnings capable of 80+ mph winds prompted some emergency managers to sound the sirens Sunday night:
While one line of storms have moved out to sea and fizzled, our next threat is already gearing up. On the western periphery of our ragged boundary, unstable air is already starting to build. This will lay the groundwork for another batch of storms.
Generally, afternoon to evening has been the favored window. However, there's a chance these storms hold together much better than Sunday night's storms did. It could be a rough commute in the morning if that's the case.
The biggest risk looks to be damaging winds again but large hail will be a factor too. Look for similar timing than we have see, with storms rocketing up in west Texas in the afternoon with the hail threat, moving east into the evening with the wind threat.
