Here are some of our top weather stories for Thursday, May 10th, 2018: Severe Weather Threat Severe weather is likely from the High Plains to the Northeast over the next few days. Damaging wind, hail and isolated tornadoes are possible. Today, the greatest threat for severe weather will be in place across parts of the Northeast and High Plains.   Southern Heat Extreme heat across the Southwest will expand east, leading to temperatures in the upper 80s and 90s from California to Kansas to Florida. Stay cool.   Fire Concerns Linger A Fire Threat is in place across the Southwest and Four Corners as intense heat, dry and windy conditions linger across the region. Wind at times will reach up to 30 miles per hour, with higher gusts possible, which would allow any fires that develop to expand and spread very quickly.   Tune into WeatherNation for the latest on these and other top weather stories from across the nation.
