As Hone continues to weaken and push away from Hawaii, we look back to the East where two more storms are still churning in the Eastern Pacific. (Once) Hurricane Gilma has decreased in strength to a tropical storm and will continue weakening.
The latest forecast cone from the National Hurricane Center has Hurricane Gilma approaching Hawaii as a tropical depression after some weakening over the next day as it runs into drier air, and should dissipate to a remnant low as it approaches Hawaii.
As for Hector, we say goodbye. This system has decreased to a remnant low, out in the Pacific as the fish storm it was! Hector will not be impacting Hawaii.
The Atlantic is starting to slowly ramp back up as it seems to have forgotten that we're nearing the peak of hurricane season. While nothing is even close to concrete, the National Hurricane Center highlighted an area in the central Atlantic with a 40% chance of development in the next 7 days.
