On the opposite side of our major severe and flood event, a big snowstorm is likely for parts of New Mexico and West Texas. Winter alerts are currently in place for southern Colorado, New Mexico, and the Texas Panhandle. Some cities in New Mexico have already picked up over a foot of snow with more falling!

As a surface low moves south into New Mexico and Texas, heavy snow continues Saturday from New Mexico into West Texas. Travel issues will be possible this weekend across Interstate 40. As the surface low tracks east on Sunday, it will bring some snow showers into Oklahoma and possibly into the Ozarks! A few places could see moderate to heavy snow accumulation. Here's a look at the forecast of additional snow. Keep an eye on this storm in our Western Regional Forecast every hour at :50 past.
