The low pressure system that moved from Texas into the Ozarks didn't produce much severe weather. And that is some good news as the Storm Prediction Center removed the Marginal Risk of severe thunderstorms from the forecast.
As we head into Friday, storms move east into Tennessee, northern Alabama, Mississippi, and Georgia all at risk for a few stronger thunderstorms. Elsewhere across the Mid-South, we expect heavy rainfall and localized flooding concerns.
Quite a bit of rain will fall through Saturday night. In Oklahoma, Missouri, and Arkansas we may see upwards of 5 inches of rain, especially over the hilly terrain. Across the Ohio River Valley, Tennessee Valley, and mid-Atlantic we may see upwards of 3 or 4 inches of rain. This will lead to pockets of isolated flooding in poor drainage areas, low-lying spots, or smaller rivers/creeks.
The PGA Championship is being played in Louisville, Kentucky this week and this weekend. Rain and thunderstorms may impact the event on Friday.
