A messy storm system will continue to push through the Eastern US on Thursday, producing snow and ice for the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast, while portions of the Mid-South are warm enough for severe storms. Multiple tornado warnings were issued Thursday morning in Kentucky and West Virginia, with one storm system likely producing tornado damage in Kentucky. Flash flooding has been a significant threat as well, with flash flood emergencies issued overnight in West Virginia.
Earlier this evening, there were a few tornado warnings in East Tennessee and Western Virginia. These storms did produce some damage in these areas and we will likely see more visuals when the sun is up on Friday. The good news is that thunderstorms and the tornado threat will continue to dwindle past midnight. With that being said, have a few ways to receive alerts if more warnings are issued in North Carolina!
