After providing southern California with much-needed rainfall, the upper level-cutoff low has meandered into the Four Corners.
As this happened, increasing available moisture has led to widespread rain and snow across the area, particularly across northern New Mexico and southern Colorado. Winter alerts continue throughout Thursday for these areas.
Snow will gradually wind down into this evening as the system moves into the Plains.
This has been great news for ski resorts and the overall water picture for the region. The Colorado River Watershed is running at 78% compared to the average, and the Rio Grande Watershed at 56%, nearly only half of the expected snowpack for this time of year. This system has been beneficial in both cases.
