The Fourth of July is notorious for bringing a lot of travelers around the U.S. AAA suspects that over 70 million people will be traveling somewhere for their holiday weekend. Most travelers take the option to drive to their desired destination, and with that in mind, the weather is a huge component of your Independence Day plans!

Most of the western and southern tier of the country will be hot for the Fourth. With highs easily reaching into the triple digits in cities like Dallas, El Paso, Las Vegas, and Phoenix. The Northern Great Plains and the Northeast will be some of the only spots that will be near or slightly below average.

A strong low-pressure system will dominate much of the Central Plains on Thursday. This not only means many states will need to dodge rain chances for any outdoor plans, but it also comes with a severe storm threat. Right now, all forms of severe weather are on the table, so make sure you have multiple ways to get weather alerts and have a backup plan in case storms rain on your plans.

There will be a slight risk for severe storms in the forecast on the holiday. All threats will be possible with these storms.
