We have been talking about the possibility of some severe storms over the Mississippi Valley for the past few days and now it looks very likely for a severe weather event over parts of Arkansas, Mississippi and Tennessee on Saturday.
Severe Outlook
Here is the latest outlook from the Storm Prediction Center for Saturday. A Slight Risk of severe weather has been issued for parts of Arkansas, Mississippi, Tennessee and Kentucky from Saturday morning through Saturday night. Large hail, damaging winds and a few tornadoes will be possible. If you live in these areas you will need to be weather aware.
Forecast Timing
Here is a look at the latest timing of the Saturday storms. This will likely be a late morning through the late afternoon event.
An area of low pressure with an associated warm front and cold front will sweep through the Southern Plains and push into the Mississippi Valley by late Saturday morning. You can see the strong to severe storms firing up over Oklahoma and moving into Arkansas. Based on this forecast, Arkansas could see the worst of this weather, but that forecast could change as we get closer.
