The same system bringing wintery impacts across the Southern Plains is also forecasted to soak the Gulf Coast. A developing area of low pressure will draw moisture right off of the Gulf of Mexico today into Friday.

Heavy, persistent rain will lead to a risk of flooding, right along the coastal areas. Corpus Christi to Pensacola could see enough rain that could overwhelm the soils. Rainfall amounts might be on the lower side, but isolated pockets of 4-5 inches could lead to issues.Steady rain and a few isolated storms look likely through the rest of Friday.

Gusty winds are expected with the system. Wind Advisories are in place from New Orleans to Pensacola, FL. Wing gusts can get as high as 40 -45 mph.
